I will tell ye a little story, And I hope it doesn't bore ye
All about King Hrothgar and his problem with the neighbors
He Built a Mead hall, a Mighty Mead hall Large enough to seat and feed all
Both hall and he were horny So they called it Heorot
It was the finest in the land And it was Built by Hrothgar's band
All of Denmark could be proud As it could hold a hell of a crowd

(Chorus 1)
Sing a Song of Sorrows
We have the Sorrows to Share
We fight tomorrow
Grendle with his steel underwear
Spears do not harm him
Neither do Axes, Swords, and knives
We've got to find a Hero somewhere
Before we all lose our lives

They had a party, an overnighter, They tried to see who could get tighter
Everybody passed out then the hall got somewhat quieter
Then old Grendel came a calling - He left the women bawling
He helped himself to Danish in the Hall called Heorot
This Grendel was a scaly guy... His looks would make a mother cry.
His mom was old and sort of blind, And she never seemed to mind

(Chorus 1) (Actually you probably don’t need the chorus #1 every time)

He went often to fill his belly He must have thought it was a deli
He was a messy eater and it started getting smelly
Then throughout the Danish Nation There was sent an invitation
To inexpensive lodgings in the hall called Heorot
The Heroes came from far and near At first they filled the Hall with Cheer
When Grendel tore them limb from limb The Hero ranks became quite slim

(Chorus 1)

They tried to fight him, tried to smite him But their weapons could not bite him
Hrothgar finally granted Grendel's hide must be enchanted
With the death of the last Hero Applications dropped to zero
So membership restrictions were relaxed at Heorot
Then from far across the Swan-Road came King Hygelac's most vicious thane
He was the son of Ecgtheow So he did not have to row

(Chorus 1)

He was Swedish, he was Geatish He was strongish, he was greatish
Dressed rather more like Markland as opposed to S.C.A.ish
They saw meaning in his arrival Such as possible survival
Thus Beowulf the Hero was announced at Heorot
Again the hall was filled with cheer They served the crew the finest beer
They hoped the hard times were all gone And they might live to see the dawn

(Chorus 2)
So roll out the barrel
We'll have a barrel of fun
We've got a hero
Who will fix that scaly son of a gun
He'll kill old Grendle
He'll really make that monster's mommy cry
And if he doesn't do it
Then we're all going to die.
